A happy new year to JSHD dancers & their families! We certainly finished 2012 off right with the 5th Annual Highland Holiday Ceilidh & Tea featuring Back of the Bus & The Glenlily Highland Dancers & The JSHD Dancers!
Thank you to all dancers, parents, family and friends for your support of the Ceilidh! Another big thank you to the band Back of the Bus and the Glenlily Highland dancers for sharing their talents with us. It was a huge success and a memorable afternoon to say the least! If you have pictures of videos of the choreography from the day I would LOVE to have a copy.
Now we are into what I consider the competitive season including the first championships of the 2012 season. Some dancers are planning to head to the Western Canadian Championship & Competition in Kamloops at the end of March. Edmonton is also hosting the ever popular spectacle the ScotDance Canada Championship Series from July 11th – 15th, 2012. These events include competition for dancers of all levels. If you are intersted in getting involved don’t hesitate to speak to Miss Kendra about any questions you might have.
Let’s finish this fifth & fabulous year off right!

- ALL competing dancers MUST renew their ScotDance / SOBHD cards for 2012 to be eligible to compete in ANY competition in the New Year.
- This year, I will be taking a second collection of cards to reduce class time interruptions for signing & headaches of incomplete forms for the dancers, parents, myself & the volunteer registrar.
- PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR COMPLETED FORM TO THE STUDIO BY JAN. 13TH, 2012. After this, dancers / parents will be responsible for sending in their own cards individually. All forms must be signed by Miss Kendra prior to mailing. The 5 minutes at the beginning of your dancer’s class is normally an appropriate time to interrupt.
- There may be several items that accompany the renewal application. Please include all items (i.e. picture, photocopies ect.).
- Forms available at the studio (limited number) or by clicking here.
- Please note: if you are unsure whether your dancer will compete in 2012 you may register with the SOBHD / ScotDance Canada at any time. At least 2 weeks must be allowed for processing.
- Please note: NEW! –ALL DANCERS WILL REGISTER WITH SCOTDANCE SASKATCHEWAN.

Privates and semi-private lessons are great for more one-on-one attention. Dancers can focus on their personal corrections from their teachers, from workshops, or from medal test critiques. Check with your dancer regarding their goals for the dance year: you may find that private or semi-private lessons will make these goals more realistic.
Private lessons are available with Miss Kendra, Miss Brittany or Miss Hailey. Please arrange all lessons through Miss Kendra.
Mondays: Miss Kendra
Tuesdays & Tuesdays: Miss Brittany or Miss Hailey
Wednesdays: Miss Kendra (before 5pm), Miss Brittany or Miss Hailey
SPECIAL JANUARY DATES: Sunday January 22nd 1-5pm
PLEASE VISIT www.jonespilatesandhighland.com FOR PRIVATE, SEMI-PRIVATES ECT. CANCELLATION POLICY.

The cakewalk is a partner dance that is occasionally offered in competition. Minimum 2 years Highland experience is recommended before cakewalk competition. Additional costuming is required and must be provided by the dancer.
At least 1 semi-private is recommended at least 1-2 weeks prior to the competition. If interested, please discuss partnering, costumes / theme as well as additional lessons with Miss Kendra.
Saskatoon’s February Competition traditionally offers a cakewalk competition as do other competitions around Alberta throughout the year.
